What winter wiper blades have worked well for you folks? 2000 Wrangler JD

Silicon type. I use Silblade brand with the carbon fiber construction because you can get the small one that goes on the back of a ZJ. However there are other brands that work well.

I have noticed the carbon fiber tends to have less issue with ice freezing to it than metal for some odd reason.

I've used many brands. I've never found one that lasts much more than 1

1/2-2 years, despite all their claims to the contrary. It's not the wiper blade that gets messed up, it's all the crap on the windshield that eventually accumulates on the windshield and the blade.

Having said that, the silicone blades are supposed to be the best.

Just put on a set that supposedly work better on ice. For the most part I replace blades about once a year.

Should have asked this question with the other one. Is there any way to get the spring back in wiper blade arms? I have cleaned and oiled them so it is not a matter of crud build-up. they just don't hold against the windshield like they use to. does the entire arm need replacing? Thanks in advance Jd\2K-TJ

Sometimes the arm can be bent a bit to help press against the window. (or at least that's what worked in my old truck)

Other than that I'd probably be looking at new wiper arms. Haven't found one yet that could be serviced, let alone find a spring for em.

Probably best to buy a new arm. Bending and twisting and manipulating the current wiper arm is only a temporary fix.

PB Blaster didn't fix so I am guessing it's new arm time... Thanks Jd

FWIW, when it started snowing yesterday I found that my old blades (only a few months old) had iced up at the linkages and were only clearing a couple of narrow bands at the ends of the wiper. Pulled into the next auto parts place I saw to get some winter blades. Of course everyone else in town had the same idea and so they were sold out. Got some Bosch Icons instead, so far based on one day driving in a snowstorm they seem to be quite nice.

Sure, unless you have wet snow and like screetching and streaks on your windsheild.

You can purchase "wiper springs" that clip onto your existing wiper arms. They add additional spring tension to the stock wiper arm and add additional "spring tension" or down force to the wiper blade and make the windshield wipers work better... They in turn also add more stress to the pivot that the wiper arm is attached too, adding more wear and tear to the vehicles wiper mechanism. Just replace the blades more often.

You forgot these. ;)

I know there was one of those out there made of real cheap plastic that held two blades. Used to see them at the "performance" parts store right next to the blinker fluid.
