2014 Kia Sportage gets a facelift

The Kia Sportage is now in its third generation, and the guys at Kia thought it was time for a little facelift. Kia is making a few minor changes to tweak the 2014 model inside and out.

The most substantial change they've made has to be in the engine. Kia has revamped the old one, improving the 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine and adding direct injection. Kia says this improves fuel economy, though no numbers have been officially released yet.

The direct injection is also responsible for the increased horsepower in the 2014 model. The previous Sportage produced 176 hp and 168 lb-ft of torque, while the 2014 model boasts an improved 182 hp and

178-lb-ft of torque. Sure it's only a slight improvement in engine output, but an improvement nonetheless.

Onto the more aesthetic interior and exterior changes; the Sportage is sporting a new grille and some newly designed fog lamps. The interior will include a standard tilt/telescoping steering wheel and will also take car connectivity to the next level with its improved UVO eServices.

The eServices provide the driver with hands free navigation using only voice commands. This allows the driver to control music, answer the phone and perform other mobile phone operations all while keeping their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Pricing for the 2014 Sportage has not yet been released, but the previous 2013 Sportage beat out similar competitors such as the Chevy Equinox and Toyota RAV4 by thousands
