'99 Kia Sportage Alternator Belt

Ok, what's the deal with these? After looking at it, it looks like there's three belts on this POS. To change the alternator belt, you have to take another belt off - as the alternator belt is the 'middle' belt of the three on one particular spoke. Is it just as 'simple' as it looks, because so far, it's a royal PITA. On my Chevy, I just put a wrench on a spring-loaded tensioner - but it looks like the "front" belt on the one spoke is a screw-tensionor - so I have to keep tightening the screw to pull the tensioner in enough to pop the belt - then put the alternator belt on - then put that belt back on (loosening the screw to force the tensioner out).

Does anyone know what I"m talking about? This thing just looks like a freakin' idiot designed it - why put three belts on one spoke?

that's why I just paid 300.00 to let them do it and not worry about it...I'm not that mechanically inclined...

Yeah, well, the alternator belt is already broken, and I live out in the boonies.

Well, I finally got it replaced. Basically, the easiest/best way is to remove the skid plate on bottom - then use the screw tensioner to 'tighten' the fan belt pulley on a slide, then I could pull that belt off - put the alternator belt back on THEN put it all back together.
