follow up on Sportage timing belt change

This is the second timing belt we did, I have 2 Sportages, a 2000 and a

2001. Now both have been done at 60,000. The first used only dealer parts, cost me almost $900 with labor (NY labor is $87 and hour), the 2001 I used the parts I bought from the wholesaler from Arizona, that I have written about in prior message topics, who was great. Fast and and gave me lots of support help. My mechanic did the job in under 4 hours. Also he changed the water pump, the fuel filter, pullys, and tensioner, and the tensioner spring, and all the exterior belts, plus the plugs, while he had everything appart. My mechanic cautions against using platinum plugs for some reason. The squeeking, when it rained, went away, the engine is somewhat quieter, and my gas milage has improved slightlty. While it was on the lift, we added the dust shields, to keep down the black brake dust, and also changed the pads from Kia pads, to Bendix Titanium pads. result, dust gone. He did find a leaking rear brake cylinder, so we replaced that, whole thing cost $460 total, with me provideing the water pump, pully tensioners, and timing belt.(kit cost $93, from Kia it would have been almost $250+ for parts). So all in all it wasn't that bad. But then again neither is a root canal when it's all over.
