Kia Rio 2001

Hi, All! The car is KIA RIO 2001, with automatic transmission and steering power. After the 20K the steering wheel is a little bit "oscillating" at 20MPH and "vibrating" on higher speeds. What can I do ? Do the wheels need balancing ?

Thank you. VK.

P.S. There were no any other mechanical problems since the car bought new. The only small fixes were: windshield wipers stuck after heavy snow, room bulb change, back left wheel changed after being flat on bumpy U-turn, jump start after headlights were on on parking for hours.

If the oscillating stays steady, I'd say it's an alignment situation; if it comes and goes at intervals, say 20 mph, 40 mph, 60 mph then it might be wheel balance or a tire belt 'thrown'. I think there is a way to tell the difference.

Mike who owns a 2001 Rio also and who is at 90,000 without a major glitch!

Hi, Mike! Thank you for reply. Fixed oscillation of steering by air pumping front wheels, they had too low pressure.

Correction, the KIA is RIO 2002. (just looked better into the title papers).
