Kia Sorento Spoiler & Bike Racks

Hello all,

Well I bought the trailer hitch from my Kia dealer and a bike rack to fit it from another retailer. The hitch has a 2" receiver on it, so all devices attach to it via large bolts or pins. Naturally this makes such devices a bit wobbly, requiring the use of a support strap attached from the rack to some part of the vehicle. Which brings me to my question:

How do you *safely* attach the strap if you've got a spoiler? I don't want to attach it in the normal way, i.e. to the top of the back hatch as it puts strain on the spoiler. Can the spoiler take the pressure?

I've thought of the inside D-ring used for the netting and even the child seat restraint hooks. Both have their drawbacks, though. The D-ring is off the side and I'm not sure how well attached it is to the car, while the child restraint hook is hard to reach once you've attached the bike rack.

Any ideas?

We own a new Sorento with just over 7000 miles on it now and love it. For what you get the price was fantastic. We do have one nagging problem with it, however - it is continually mistaken for a Lexus RX300! Initially, the mileage was a little disappointing, but it has improved to near 20mpg in combined driving after the second oil change and we switched to synthetic oil. You're going to be very hard pressed to find all the features the Sorento has on a vehicle that is built like an actual truck (not an over-grown station wagon) for the money you'll spend.

Sorry, just a similar signature. The other eight EMS Supervisors who work for Orange County (FL) Fire Rescue are all close acquaintances or friends of mine, and I can honestly say I am the only Jonathan Race among them.
