110 2.5 NAD Black smoke & other bits!

I'm noticing a bit of black smoke on heavy load, not mega amounts but I can see it. I think (Mark may have mentioned it too) it's caused by over fuelling, there's no oil smoke at all.

How easy is it to sort?

It's done 234k BTW!!

Another one, I now have all the bits I need to do the springs/dampers etc, looking on an exploded diagram on the front springs there is a lower coil seat, is this likely to be shagged or is it metal etc?? The LR is at work at the minute so I can't look & don't want to get half way through to find I have to leave it on my drive for a week in order to obtain bits!

Do I have to prime the dampers at all? I know the steering damper needs priming.

The first thing is to see if it still does with a new (or no) air filter.

The adjustment is the maximum fueling setting for the injection pump. it should have a lead seal wired through it to prevent tampering. In your case the pump may be worn such that the control is not moving enough to spill off excess fuel. I am only familiar with inline pumps not the distributor type but would tend to advise not touching anything on them.

only noticed it start doing that noticably when I had the recon injectors fitted, should have the date and milage in the book along with the date and milage of the last air filter change.

If the lift off pressure of the new injectors was set a bit lower than the old this could result in over fueling.

As hinted at in the other replies, it's not a major problem by the sound of it, but it may be worth having a diesel specialist set it up as getting it just right is a bit of a black art, too much fuel and it smokes and too little and it goes gutless.

There's no way of telling without looking really.

Yes! The instructions are on the boxes. Not priming them can give some very interesting handling charecteristics.....
