2 different books "Working in the Wild: Manual for Africa"?

Source 1: "Working in the Wild: Land Rover's Manual for Africa", Rover Group Ltd Product Details: Paperback 230 pages (October 2003) Publisher: Bentley Publishers; ISBN: 0837610400

Source 2: Land Rover Restoration: "History / Military / Driving / Working in the Wild (Working in the Wild: Manual for Africa)", William Treneman, Kirt Carolan Product Details: Paperback 220 pages (August 2003) Publisher: Brooklands Books; ISBN: 1855202859

Anyone knows the difference between these 2 books? Any preferences?

This is a fantastic book which you wouldn't expect a car company to publish. How to repair your vehicle with chewing gum, what bits you can use a big hammer with, how to build a workshop out of what materials you come across and useful information on stuff like fuel storage.

No idea about the second one. It has "restoration" in the title, which the first book doesn't really cover. It's more about preventative maintenance I would say. Well worth purchasing, it's a good read.

Dear William,

I think both authors William Treneman and Kirt Carolan of the second book were the authors of the earlier edition of the 1st book "Working in the Wild: Land Rover's Manual for Africa" mentioned in my first email published by Land Rover, 1st March 1989. This version was spiral-bound, 199 pages, ISBN 0951449303.

Then both authors launch the second book "Land Rover Restoration: History / Military / Driving / Working in the Wild (Working in the Wild: Manual for Africa)" in August 2003, paperback, 220 pages, Brookland Books, ISBN 1855202859. Look at:

Then via Bentley Publishers Rover Group Ltd launchs a new edition in October 2003 of the 1st version published in 1st March 1989, paperback, ISBN 0837610400. At amazon.co.uk you can see the front (face) of the book. At the left upper corner it is written "New Revised Enlarged Edition" which the Brooklands publication does not have. See the image

I have read that "... The Brookands Books Manuals are reprints of the original factory publications, however what you find is that John and his staff from Brooklands not only reprint the original but also also roll up into it all the known amendments ...".

I am not sure about the two books but I would go first for the October

2003 Edition. Did anyone see both books to give me its opinion and explain the differences if they are?

Many thanks in advance for the pattience.

William,

Thank you very much for your attention. I have confirmed at both publishers the following.

They confirmed that Bentley Publishers bought the book from Brooklands Books. They are the same book as Bentley Publishers states: "... These books we carry are directly from Brooklands, we have not changed any information (meaning, there is no Bentley edition of the books) ...".

Best regards,

Felipe
