300 tdi rear light cluster 94 3 door Disco

Hi, is it possible to get the upper light cluster to come on when the side lights come on - is it pre wired ?, the side lights and indicators are in the bumper, the brakes light up on the bumper the upper cluster and the high level.

I'm not sure I'm making enough sense on this?.

but I did start my first post on this NG with "call me thick"

PS thanks for all the advice on the disco purchase " Bertha !"

I would also aperciate any info on fitting a third party CD player but keeping the audio contols by the steering wheel

Thanks in advance,

Yes as long as you're reasonably handy with a screwdriver and a pair of snips ;-)

My disco originally had the upper clusters without the indicators and the sidelights only came on in the bumper lights - if you have a look at the bulb in the brakelight it should be a dual filament type - what I did on mine was snip the track on the back of the lamp body going to the sidelight feed with a pair of snips so that I could 'break into' the sidelight wiring which passes the upper cluster light and take a feed via a suitably small spade connector onto the snipped sidelight track on the back of the lamp body. The connector on the back of the lamp normally doesn't have the sidelight wiring in it. (Confused yet?!) I've since replaced the upper clusters with the ones with the indicator in c/w sidelights etc etc

If it's any help I think I still have the old clusters and can get a couple of pics of where I snipped the track to loop a sidelight feed onto. Can probably identify the cable colours for the sidelights too.

Halfords (I think) can supply the lead to interface between the buttons on the instrument surround and the remote operations on the head unit... I'm sure someone will be along shortly to remind me which head unit manufacturers it is ;-) FWIW I fitted a Sony head unit & changer with one of their joystick remote controls which is fitted to the side of the steering column surround.

All the best

Chris
