Hello all,
The air con compressor on my 1983 110 V8 SW (originally exported to the UAE) seized on me last year, necessitating the drive belt to be cut. It has sat there forlornly ever since, until yesterday when I finally took a look at it. Rather than the pump unit being seized (as I had thought), it was the drive pulley - the pump shaft moves freely. There is an electromagnetic coil which pull s the drive shaft clutch onto the pulley when activated, and this seems to have short circuited just before the failure (I was getting blown fuses), and then it wound itself around the inside of the pulley. I have removed all this, and it just needs re-assembling. Here is my dilemma!
1) what is the likelihood of getting service parts for this? The make is Seiko-Seiki, and that's about all on the body except for the refrigerant (R12) and lubricant.2)If I can't replace the electromagnet, what's the best way of permanently attaching the pulley to the drive shaft (I ran the thing almost continuously anyway)
2a)How do I get ball bearings back between the grooves on the pulley and the body?3)If none of the above are feasible, what other air con pumps would work?
Ta, Stuart
