So, my key fob wouldn't turn off the alarm the other morning.
(It's a 1996 Defender 90 CSW)
Got the spare fob.
That doesn't work either...
New batteries were fitted to both fobs in June last year.
Call mechanic...
Fits new fob battery, engine starts first time, but the spare fob now doesn't work, it's buggered.
So...
I look at the workshop manual with a view to removing the alarm system and it's a monster.
Half a dozen sensors including switches, concealed induction coils and a two sensor ultrasonic alarm in the cabin, half a dozen things get switched off, the engine gets immobilised, three fuses, one of them concealed, something called the 'alarm spider' whatever that is, no real information and it talks about the 'alarm wiring harness' which all sounds horribly difficult
With one exception the only thing that's caused any problems in the twelve years I owned the car is the bloody alarm.
And it looks like getting it out/disconnected/switched off is a major task for an auto-electrician.
Is there a quick and dirty way of getting round this?
