Best Diesel in the UK ???

Anybody in this illustrious body get the same result as me. Been on a long run to Midlands and filled up with Tescos "best", after getting back to London filled up with the regular Total offering and 110 300 Tdi seems to run better. Is this imagination or am I missing something. I know that the "city " stuff lacks sulphur so can cause lubrication problemns in the pump. Thing is the car seems to accelerate better, have more power and generally seems to feel better. Can't think it's simply the journey blowing out any residual cr..p because that would show up befor getting back and filling up.

I only fill up in one of two places mostly, an Esso station or the local Sainsbury's. The supermarket fuel is much cheaper which is why I started going there.

I've noticed that I get around 50 miles less to a tankfull with the cheap diesel and the engine smokes much more. Can't say I've noticed any performance difference but it must be there.

There have been several posts I've seen over the years claiming that all fuel is the same but my observations say different.

I now only use the Esso garage unless I'm feeling a bit tight.

If you really do get an extra 50 miles per tank, surely your comment about only using Esso unless you feel tight is wrong? if you get an extra 50 miles would not Esso work out cheaper per mile ?

I guess I should have put a smiley after that line. It was meant to be vaguely humourous.

In my observation it was Shell that gave the best performance. 's better than murco and the like.

I can't think where there is a Shell garage near me, mostly Esso, BP and the supermarkets. I'll only use the supermarkets now if there is no other option.

I used to use supermarked diesel from safeway (now morrisons). Though at the moment I'm running 50% diesel and 50% biofuel.

I have read many reports about the differences between supermarket diesel and other places diesel, usually negative towards the supermarket diesel, though I've never noticed a difference myself. (though things are far better on a 50% biofuel mix for me)
