diesel leak

TD5, very minor diesel leak from what turns out to be the fuel pressure regulator/connector on the back of the head.

Is this likely to be the gasket/o-ring behind it, or is there scope for the unit itself to leak?

Known problem, had similar leak on mine last year. Stealers replaced the thing, *IIRC* they said it's normally a unit failure rather than just the gasket. =A3102.90 for the regulator and =A31.41 for the gasket =

yeah, seen the units in Paddock's list (slightly cheaper than that). Ah well. Looks a right royal bastard to get to as well, may require moving the inlet manifold.

Stealer prices...

It is awkward to get at don't think that had to take the manifold off but who knows what they do when they have your car... Is it one of those things that is easier from underneath, though I suspect the bell housing etc would be in the way.

Did one last year, can't remember exactly what was involved but I know I didn't need to take the inlet manifold off. There may have been something else near it that had to come off, but I know the job didn't take very long so it can't have been anything major.

Hi.

My friend with the D3 TD5 fuel-in-the-sump problem, has just informed me that it all began immediately after the FPR was changed on motor, as it was drenching the starter with fuel.

Prior to that, no fuel in sump issues.

What preasure does that regulate to (like in PSI) and if it was too high (faulty replacement) could either the injectors or associated seals leak as a result?

Cheers.

*just* possible withuot removing the manifold. And make sure, when getting a replacement one, that you get and fit the correct gasket, replacement 2-pipe units are the 3-pipe casting minus one drilling, and use the 3-pipe type gasket.
