Disco series II horn prob.

Hi

I am looking for a bit of help with my Disco Series II.

does anybody know if there is a problem with the horn as my went off last night and could not switch it off, I know it was not the alarm because when it was sounding there was no flashing of lights until i pressed the fob which opened the doors and i could start the car. I have now disconnected the horns (Temp) until friday when i get some time in the daylight to look any ideas of where to start looking.

Thanks

short somewhere, normally. on some motors the horn supply is permanent live and the switching is done on the earth side - dated back to horn push in the middle of the wheel which earthed the wire to the steering column.

Funnily enough, I have the opposite problem. My horn will intermittently

*not* work. I can be tooting merrily at the opposition one day, and next day I may need to blast a traffic miscreant and - nothing. It started in Italy last year (where a working horn is about as vital as brakes), and I dismantled the bits as far as needed to check the wiring, but all was sound. I put it down to the heat, but it's been happening on and off ever since. You're right - the horn is wired permanent live and earthed via the switch. But it ain't simple wiring, that's for sure. There are two or three wires to the horn, one of which was live when I tested, but the horn still wouldn't work. The others, I haven't a clue about. The wiring diagram in the WSM is written in an obscure dialect of Arcturan that I am not fluent in. Lots of code letters and reference numbers, but very few lines representing actual wires. I would take it in for a "proper man" to have a look at it, but you can guarantee that it would work fine for the duration of the visit.
