f*@!**&$! git!

bloody ignition amp has died. Could of course be the pickup/trigger in the distributor, but I reckon the amp is more likely.

fitted spare points-type distributor, now it's working again.

are the amps prone to this? This is the later type one with the amp on the distributor body (Lucas 35DLM8 distributor, I think it is).

any ideas how much they are to replace? It was working well with that distributor, so I'll probably refit it, unless further tweaking of the points one makes it run nicely. It's not quite producing the sort of power it ortta at the moment, but I suspect the timing isn't quite right.

Hi Austin,

I have spare in the fruit bowl, but it is the remote type not the one which sits on the dizzy body. Yours if it is any use to you.

LR want stupid money for them (approx 100 notes plus VAT), but Halfords carry them. Mine was 22 quid including VAT. It turned out not to be the problem in the end, hence it is spare.

I'll pass on it for now, and look in halfrauds to see if they have the on-dizzy type. failing that, lucas service probably have 'em at sensible money.
