Freelander clunking

My 02 Freelander has started to make a knocking/clunking when setting off or cornering. Just had the Front pads renewed at a independent garage(less than half the price of main deal;er) he had a look for me said the rear Bushes were in a poor condition and it's a common problem(it's only done 28K on urban streets and speed humps. How long would they last off roading?).Is it a common problem? Are the Bushes covered under warranty.

Just had a 'clunk' diagnosed on the wifes Td4. It was when pulling off, or cornering on full-lock at low speed. It has been back to the dealer 4 times as it is getting worse. Trns out that it is nothing to do with the steering, it is an engine mounting!!!! Apparently the technicians are concerned with the way it threaded in the chassis. I am waiting for a call to tell me when they have 4 DAYS free in the body shop to repair it!!!! I can only asume from this that it is an 'engine out' job. Thanks goes to the man that invented the 3-year warranty!

Stew.
