Just watched 'Ice Cold in Alex'. In the final scene just as Anthony Quall is being driven away by the MPs, they drove past what looked like a Land Rover parked up a side street. The film was made in 1958 so it is possible.
As an aside, Monday sees the DVD/Video launch of "Touching the Void". Apart from vaguely knowing one of the people the film is based upon, I can heartily commend it as one of 'the' films to watch this year. I'm currently trying to get permission to show it at our 'Field Cinema' during Landie Show Season...
having established that i know absolutely nothing about either land rovers or computers i can now leap to the fore with what i do something about.
touching the void is an incredible film, one of only two films ive given five stars to in the past year (i knock out film reviews). what really marks it out is how you know the ending even before the film begins but still youre completely riveted by this true story of youthful hubris and a derring-do we all wish we possessed.
if you see one film this year (well you really ought to get out a bit more often!!) but touching the void might be it.
mother is right on it! see see see!
