looking for aluminium made top tailgates (RaRo Classic)

People Hi,

I remember that somebody was making top tailgates for the Range Rover Classic vehicles but can not find any contact details on the internet or the latest issues of the LR magazines. Does anyone happen to have their phone number or e-mail address handy?

thanks in advance for your kind input

Terry and Mark thanks.

Simmonites will surely be adding their profit margin and I would prefer to avoid paying any added premium on those. Famour Four also does them but at a very hight price (around 200 + pounds IIRC)

Thanks again Pantelis

The message from "Pantelis Giamarellos" contains these words:

I got one of those to replace mine, cost about 180 UKP ISTR for an unglazed one in kit form suplied from JSF(local non-dealer LR parts supplier, do web sales I think as landpart.co.uk) I cant remember a make. Took hours to get the glass out of the old one; a really difficult job as needed to not break it. ALSO you need to rescue old rubber seal at base- new ones were either not available or unpardonably expensive I can't remember which and the thin rubberised seal around the glass. Putting the new one together was no picnic either the result looked nice but took some fitting, messing about with hinges etc, result not very satisfactory, not enough weight to close easily, have to push at both ends rather than on central handle as the bottom edge not very rigid, also it leaks.

A pre glazed one in aluminium was quoted as cost 500 to 600 UKP ISTR, whilst an OEM one in steel pre-glazed complete was about 700 UKP, needed one after an OIK attacked rear door lock with a screwdriver and damaged the rust! and the metal strip which holds the rubber seal in place had turned to brown dust and blown away.

I am now saving up to get a steel one, as really not happy with ally, ok if you never use it as it's cheap, but I need to get dogs in and out most trips so it's a real pain.
