Miscellaneous Spares

Dear All

I need some small replacement parts for a Landrover Defender 90. For example, to the right of the Steering wheel is a cluster of two switches (Hazards + ??). The small plastic surround that holds them in place is busted. Eg, it's small stuff that are part of the original LR rather than stuff like winches, transfer boxes, suspension etc

My questions are:

Where do you guys normally go for stuff like this? somewhere like Paddocks/Craddocks etc? Or just any old auto factor?

What do most of these people need to order the parts? Part numbers? If so where can I find info on these items?

Many thanks

Paul

Could dig their phone number out if you want

Dear All

many thanks for the replies.

DieSea - I googled Buckley Bros and found their web site. Thanks. Only problem is I suspect postage is gonna end up being 4 times the cost of the component. That's why I wondered if it's best to use local auto factor.

Sounds like local breakers might be a good starting point?

How do you guys go about ordering stuff - with part numbers? If so where do you get them?

If you have the part it will be on it somewhere, even if you only have a part of the part number because the part is broken and a bit lost google can still be pretty effective. This is always assuming that the part is generally available. If that fails I'd wander into a dealers (or good local, specialist, independant) and find it in their parts system. For not generally available parts you'll probably have to go that route anyway.

Thanks for the replies.

DieSea - I'm just outside Reading in the SE.

Thanks - I'll try our local auto factors. If they deal in LR spares I know they have an extensive catalogue on computer.

A Jiffy bag and postage is not going to more than 1/2 a beer token

Give a shout if you need help

Buckley Bros is almost on my door step

I phoned Buckley Bros and they knew exactly what it was I was after (even with my garbled description!!). Ordered it over the phone and the cost including P&P was negligible. I know where to look in future.

Thanks for all the help.

That's good news

Beats me how they can find anything there :-)

Just like my den , wife's been barred from there

Can't find anything once she's been in and tidied up
