As Steve says, I'd love to be at home doing the ambi!, but I am in Kazakhstan working!

I am working on the most badly organised project ever (a new school). Came out for ~2 weeks last month - and found no computers, no power, no water and an incomplete building. Sat around a lot with no power or internet. Came home for 5 days, then came back here (on my own this time). Now we have some computers - though we don't have network cabling or power in much of the building - and the power is off this weekend!. Plus school term has now started in the half of the school that is built! (though they dont have books or paper as they have not yet been ordered!)

So I am currently being paid quite well for being very bored and sitting on my arse a lot. Atleast I will have some cash to spend on the ambi this year! :)

Cant wait to come home on tuesday!. Am hoping i don't have to come back here again either.

Having done "shuttle" trips like that to foreign parts - Cairo particularly, I found it very comforting to develop my own routines, and favourite haunts- that way it gets to feel more like home, but with less rain.

If i could find a reliable source of internet, it wouldn't be so bad!. Have finally found a pub with it tonight (got it briefly thismorning in the hotel before it broke) and manage to get the WEP code!

If only my russian were better it wouldnt be quite so hard! - though today i realised that the writing isnt actually that bad once you work out all the correct sounds of each letter, and how they relate (or not) to the english ones!

The letters are greek if that helps so P - which looks like the Greek "Rho" is a 'R' sound.....

The 'h' is an 'N' sound....

So the PectoPah is the "Restaran"

Now you can eat !

I dont know greek, so that doesnt really help! :) Having no trouble finding restaurants. Have only found one supermarket/ shop type place so far though! I think im in the wrong part of town - has restaurants, nice parks, many war memorials and statues, fancy expensive clothes shops and not a lot else! I managed to buy a pint of guinness today. not quite the worst i've ever had and it cost the equivalent of =A35!

You need to be drinking Baltika - anything from No.0 to No.10 !

No.6 is a porter, but IIRC no.3 is nice and easy to drink . Lizzy

not found any pubs/bars selling baltika yet! seen it in the shop but not bars/pubs!

Efes seems to be a local favourite

Its going right the way across the car park, and it'll be about 6.5 metres deep, so everything should fit nicely.

you're going to need more than a snorkel for that.

I found baltika in a supermarket, but couldnt remember which one you said was a porter (doh! - I like porter) Cant get wikipedia to work here either. I bought a no3 and a no4. 3 was a lager/very light beer, 4 a slightly darker beer. both were nice, but i preferred 4.
