I understand at one point if you had it done you were no longer allowed to drive in Germany, don't know if that is still the case. Something about night vision I believe.

Thanks Ian :)

I went for the checkup yesterday and have opted for LASIK with the wavefront and intralase (so no scalpels for me). I still can't see very well as a side effect of the drops they put in to check eyes - it's very odd. Can't focus on close items - so this typing thing is hard!

I've had lasik in 2001 - best thing I ever did. I had monovision which is one eye for reading and the other for distance... the brain soon gets used to it, LOL. I used to have monovision contact lenses. I use reading glasses for very small print and only wear glasses for night driving but then most people my age normally do anyway.

Dr Patel at Optimax performed my lasik op.

Also, If you use a computer at work in the UK and need a separate set of glasses for computer use, your employer is required to pay for them (within a reasonable limit IIRC).

Nasty, Though I'd have thought it possible to have the ranges of each section overlap but I guess if the lens is getting hard with age that might not be possible. I'll probably go for vari-focals anyway, I know several people with vari-focals and once they have got used to them, they are much prefered bi-focals.
