OT: Why is it that eBay attracts all the W.....s

I have an antique chair on eBay at 495 BIN or best offer, so I get an offer of 100 - year right! Couldn't even be bothered to respond to that one, and to top it off I get on "offer" on the Espace (probably worth ITRO 3k) of 1000 - cash mind! I say an offer, but in fact his barely legible e-mail just asked if I wud I take 1000 cash 2moro. I replied saying that I'd happily take 100 cash off him tomorrow, I didn't mention that he ain't getting the car in return tho.

When I tried to flog my landy on fleabay that's all I got, rot like that. Someone emailed me and started off with "Let's be honest now", which immediately flags up that a stupid offer is about to follow. On the basis that the truck would take thousands to put back to "as new condition" he was prepared to offer me a few hundred pounds for it.

I put a telly up on fleabay a week ago, a few days later I start getting questions from ebay members, but they all turn out to be trying to sell me viagra or whatever. These are messages actually sent through the ebay messaging system, which it seems is now infested with spammers as well as scammers and plain idiots.

Greif I sold a scuba compressor. I was perfectly honest that it hadn't been run for three years and it's been sitting in the garden but somebody came back wanting assurances it was fully operational and tested.

I pointed out that it it was FWO I wouldn't have started it at £1 with no reserve.

If you have not reset your password delete the e-mail. I would also log into ebay using your own fav and not any links in that mail above. Just to check things. Plus you can forward the suspect mail to snipped-for-privacy@ebay.co.uk and they will confirm or deny anything to do with it for your own peace of mind.

Talking of which, I've got two emails today from ebay having reset my account password because of a suspected compromise of the details. I dunno what's going on, but it's all a bit suspect.
