painting mi landy, advise sought.

just prepping the tub for its annual makeover due to the capping having lost part of its galvenising ill have to paint it, the tubs gunna be green and i wonderd what the groups reccommendations are for the capping, ( i Know its best left galved, but unless i regalve it all, its not an option)

i thought 1, black ( but think it could look tatty, not sure) 2, a different shade of DBG maybe darker

second question is in what order should i paint, capping first, tub second. or the other way round, i just dont want to mask new paint up, to rip it off when i unmask.

any advise greatly appreciated.

Get a tin of Aluminium paint or Silver paint and do the cappings with it, looks close enough to galvanised metal.

Hammered silver hammerite looks okay too.

If you mix a bit of black hammerite in (not very well - don't stir too much), it looks even more like weathered galv.

I will try that next time! Some of my galvanising needs a bit of paint as its all rusty :(

Yuck! Don't paint bits that are meant to be galv - regalv it! Get yourself a big pile of bits and get them all done at once, it looks so much better and that's the job done for another twenty years :)

Too late!. I've already redone some bits. I'm trying to keep the galv but its slowly going away! Its only on one of the doors anyhow. I shall probably have to replace the whole door in the not too distant future anyhow.

I reckon that i will wear out the body panels before the galvanised bits!
