Parabolic spring problem

Hi everyone, Sorry if this has been raised before, i did a search and couldn't find anything, so here goes.

my mate has just fitted a set of parabolics from Britpart, the fronts were fine, but the rears have now jacked the back end up 6 inches over standard! it looks very funny :-)

these are the standard SWB springs as we have checked the part numbers, so has anyone else had this priblem?

cheers

Has the axle been bolted back in the right place? As in on the springs not under them :-)

mine had an inch or maybe 2 difference front to back until i had driven it for a week or so. did you torque the u bolts properly with the back weighed down? (get some mates to sit in the back while you do it) i gather that can affect it? Also - are you using heavy duty rears with extra leaves? or the normal ones?

Hi Tom they are normal ones and yes we loaded the back up, but it still sat up about 6 inches!

In the end the suppliers Have refunded the money for the full set :-) and at the moment he has taken out the middle leaf and is just running in on the main and the helper (3rd spring) at the rear.

I have so say this seem fine and the landy is about one inch higher at the rear now to the front.

God knows how they made these rears but they must have had a very bad day at the factory!, interestingly enough they couldnt get another set to replace them as there arnt any and their not getting anymore - maybe that tells us something? lol

Perhaps it's a simple case that they were incorrectly labelled. It happens all the time.

This is true but they were 3 leaf not 4 so i assumes they were the standard not heavy or LWB versions?

i think the LWB rear ones a a different size to the swb's

glad you got it kinda sorted!

On or around Tue, 06 May 2008 22:08:16 +0100, Tom Woods enlightened us thusly:

Rears are the same length. 3+helper are LWB, generally, although I fitted

2+helper on Edward.

there are also 4-leaf rears, for the authentic cast-iron ride feel :-)

speaking of the TIC ones here that were made in Spain, as sold by Chris Perfect previously.

These came from britpart, via one of there suppliers, and a bit of research on the net looks like they are made abroad, no suprise there - but interestingly enough one of their offices is in Sheffield where i live, so was going to see what they sadi about them if we couldnt get them sorted

it does seem to be fine thought now he is down to just 2 leafs - then main and the helper :-)
