Bloody hell, you're going back a bit there Derek. I thought Seltons were well defunct, last time I heard of them was when they were at the bottom of Heaton St, but there was someone repairing CVs in a unit at the bottom of Milton St and Palatine St a few years ago, don't know if it was someone who came from Seltons but I think that's all been knocked down to make way for a shopping centre which has been up and running now for a few years. What's it for Derek? I'll ask around but if it's for Landrover or RRC I might have a s/hand one or Simmonites used to get them repaired quite cheaply. Paddocks have them I think but they are so cheap I'm dubious about the quality.

I'm Landy free atm mate its for herselfs Subaru 96 GrandWagon its one of the first Legacy Outbacks but a nip import I'm not even positive its the CV could possibly be the inboard (rear ns) joint theres bugger all play compared to what I'm used to but I know that noise. When Seltons closed he did say he was moving so I just took the phone number certain I could phone if needed and its still listed on the web at Heaton St even tho the place was rebuilt. Rgds Derek

On or around Wed, 29 Apr 2009 19:49:43 +0100, "Oily" enlightened us thusly:

I fitted one of theirs to something and it looked OK, but I didn't have it that long afterwards, so can't comment on the durability. having said that, it's not that hard a job to swap 'em, and at that price, if they last a year they're still good value :-)

When I last needed a Subaru front c.v. for a different model than yours it cost around £180 for the complete shaft with both inner and outer c.v.s, the price of the outer on it's own was something like £265 (work that one out!). I think I got it from R.N.Golden near Holmfirth IIRC. A couple of mates have Subaru Legacy's so I'll ask around.
