Radio control Defender

I have a radio control Defender but I have lost the battery charger for it, anyone got a spare one lying around? or can someone tell me the details written on the charger so I could try and find an alternative.

Cheers Liam

What battery does it take? A standard 7.2v NiCd "racepack" or something else?

No maker's name or anything to identify it, other than the above.

If its a standard jack plug a universal power supply should do the business- voltage and polarity are selectable plus .various size plugs on the one I use. Does most stuff laptops rechargeable lanterns and stuff usually under a tenner just check the output some cheap ones ( not cheap by price cheap by specification ) are very low ampage Maplins do a range of them (which are mostly cheaper elsewhere) Derek

Well it'll probably charge the pack but also run the risk of overchargin= g it. NiCds much prefer a constant current charger not a constant voltage =

power supply.

There are generic NiCd chargers about, these from a quick look on CPC:

BT03226 150mA @ 9.6v (8 cells) =A37.30 very simple, might not have enoug= h umph. BT03233 =A326.89 much cleverer, can discharge and charge tests before ch= arge etc. BT02842 =A313.22 (1 - 12 cells) Basic but 60mA output would mean a good =

10 hours or longer charge time, probably no risk of cookimg your batteries = if left on. BT02843 =A320.72 (1 - 10 cells) 400mA output so about 2hrs charge time b= ut no mention of a time out or trickle mode. You'd need to watch the charge= times or use a time switch to avoid cooking.

Pays yer money, makes yer choice. B-)
