We used to use Landcruisers in the eighties in the 5th and 6th military districts. From my perspective, the best thing was that they had a car radio, unlike the Landies. ;)

It didn't hurt that they were a lot faster - their fuel consumption, however, was a big pain in the arse - imagine the logistics of a 4,000 km off road mission without accessing civilian fuel supplies.

Our LRP SIIA could do 3,500 km with the onboard fuel. No chance of doing that with the Tojo. Plus the fully loaded weight of the LRP SIIA was 40 kg less than the empty weight of the Tojo....

OTOH, the body design of the Tojo made it easier to attach various odds and sods to the body here and there. And the foot vent was great too.

Morgan still do make Ash frames vehicles and have full order books for them but they also make state of the art ally framed cars too.

out the Aero models, I only wish I could afford one. There are other specialist builders around too, McLaren being one that is well known. (you have heard of the F1?) We are also the leading place in the world to build real racing cars due to our engineering excellence.

As for our volume car industry, it had to become global one way or another and due to poor management it got bought up instead of doing the buying. Other players just came here and built new factories because they realised our workers and engineers were first rate (Nissan, Honda etc). The Nissan plant is one of the worlds most efficient. Ford and BMW make a lot of their engines in the UK.

And your car industry?

They don't make wooden chassis cars anyway, the frame is what supports the bodywork. Marcos made some cars with actually wooden chassis.

I think if you close the windows, open them again, apply the handbrake then select "N", then "D", then "R" then press "Start" and "Horn" at the same time, it'll enter admin mode and you can play solitaire!
