The solution - A curfew after 21:00 hrs and community work for anyone who is >unemployed.

only problem with the last bit is that it'll just add to the unemployment.

It is quite possible that the culprit was the illegitimate son of a drug-riddled benefit addict who will progress to housebreaking, armed robbery, attempted murder and then make a good living as a 'been there' counsellor.

It is equally quite possible that it was a couple of thirteen year old lads who had dared each other to do it, then gone home to middle-class parents crapping themselves that they were going to get caught and get a right belting off their Dad.

Some years ago, one of my parents neighbours had 'an incident' with their caravan. My Dad didn't leather me, but my mother sure did...

All in the name of balance. There seem to be quite a few Daily Mail readers here....

As I get older (in my mid 30's now) I find myself doing/saying all the things I remember my Dad doing/saying....

Radio 1 - what's that racket about?..I simply can't understand the language most shop assistants are using....etc etc...

Now I've found I've been faced with another one....What exactly is a CHAV?

It seems to have become used much more widely on TV and in the papers lately and from what I understand seems to be related in some way to Burberry check clothing (Much to Burberrys constanation it appears).

Is it a regional thing or is it a new word for something or other, please enlighten me:-)

That's me since age 10. I think I was prematurely fogey.

What used to be known as a "ned". The new teen-to-twenty-somethign scum brat generation.

They seem to fill a space one of my friends refers to as "Breeder" - not a parent, merely people who breed and then fail to take cre of the kids, while also embodying all the crap of previous generations.

I agree, we are, but like it or not, as I said it has to stop (or at the very least, reduce considerably) somewhere and soon, or there won't be a welfare state for any of us!

I didn't say give them weapon training, although it might actually teach them just how dangerous a weapon can be if used wrongly. Once they've been in for 2 or 3 years (of their 5 or 6 years service), a selective process would ensure (hopefully!) that only the safer ones were trained for weapons. This would instil a competitive spirit amongst them as this would be seen as some form of "right of passage", hopefully helping to improve maturity by competition.

Personally, I think the EU has too much power over us as it stands. I really think that with a decent, uncorrupt government we would fare better on our own. Oh, and fill in that bloody channel tunnel!!!!!!!

Not if they're banged up, they don't! And if they know they'll be banged up for 5 years for nicking as much as a pint of milk off a doorstep - in a prison cell that provides a bed, toilet and sink with no telly, radio, computer, phone etc etc - then there's a seriously reduced chance of them re-offending.

Hmmmm.... methinks that your average clout on the lug or kick up the arse probably wouldn't work against guns and petrol bombs. No offence intended. I get your drift, but my comment was meant more towards the cheeky little kid that just knocked the old pensioner's hat off etc.

Ok, valid point. Suppose we could introduce a cheap form of semi-self-build motor, what about a fibreglass body with a lawnmower engine? Nope, the Trabby has been and gone! Hey, howsabout I appoint you as my transport minister, then it'll be your problem to sort out? LOL Badger.

What a stunning and enlightening website, I was starting to feel alone in the fact that I seem to be surrounded by these people.

I live in Caterham, I used to live in Coulsdon and Purley but each time I move I get 5 miles or so further out of London. We have now had Two complete Chav families move in close by, that's three generations in one home, this website has scored almost 100% hit rates on my new neighbours! - We're looking for somewhere else to live....might have to go as far as East Grinstead this time....

I recently went shopping in Croydon (a bad mistake I now realise) and I was in a phone shop trying to replace my old and worn out phone, I simply couldn't understand what the guy was saying to me, I'm quite sure He was speaking English, it just wasn't a form of English I was familiar with. I had to excuse myself and explain as politely as possible that I simply didn't understand him (all the time conscious that I could be arrested any moment for extreme prejudice or racism).

All in all it is horribly frustrating that this is going on, I feel threatened when I'm in these places surrounded by these people, I'm not worried about them per se, what I do worry about is the fact that legally I'm probably not in a position where I could defend myself if the need arose without expecting to be prosecuted for something or other......something somewhere has gone horribly wrong, I've seen the way these kids address police, teachers and people who hold positions that were generally respected when I was a kid.....

Oh no, now I really do sound like my dad, another 5 years and I'll be dancing like him too no doubt...:-)

where do you stop, most of us in the UK are immigrants if you go back far enough

do we really want to give these gits weapons training?

Naw, the looney left started all this before the eu started messing us about

Sadly not if you believe the press. People with records cant get jobs so they go & nick stuff......

Yup. tried that here in Ulster. 30 years of peaceful living here certainly.... or am I thinking of somewhere else?

NO NO NO NO NO 2nd hand landies are too dear already. they'd be FAR to dear if it was compulsory to own em!
