As I recall that was about three and a half weeks wages but still less than the cost of a washing machine. It was a couple of years later that I bought a 1950 Series I ( Epicyclic gearbox ) for £35.00 so that advert must have been for one in very good nick! PS The vauxhall Velox was the equivalent of the today's Vectra

The spell check doesn't work on a mac version of OE. I can't spell when I'm drunk either!

My Dad trod on one once that ran out from under his work bench once, when we lived in the wilds of Wiltshire in a house with a couple of empty ones behind it. They used to come in next to the aga. Whilst scraping it up on to the shovel, he burnt his bum on the soldering iron. As you can imagine, Dad didn't find it at all amusing, but my two brother, my sister, my Mum and myself did. He didn't talk to us for ages afterwards!

Go to the Edit menu, select preferences. Select the Spelling tab and turn on "Check spelling as you type" and select your dictionary of preference...

Don't know about MacOS, but under Windows you have to have MS Office installed for the spell check to work in any other MS software. JD
