Re: Series IIa diesel mpg

Could anyone give me the probable mpg for a series IIa diesel SWB Landy,

2-1/4 diesel? About 20+mpg Perkins 3.3 diesel, about 35+mpg (but heavy, slow and LOUD) 2-1/4 petrol with LPG, around 12-14mpg but double that to get the effective cost.

The above figures are vague, as are all MPG figures. My old P6 used to do between 12mpg and 27mpg depending on the weather, the terrain and how I drove it.

LRO give 19-26 mpg for the IIa 2.25 diesel, against 17-22 for the 2.25 petrol. That's about as good as you'll probably find. My 109 2.25 petrol (which I believe was over heavy on fuel) typically managed 12-13 mpg, and about 16 on a long run.

I used to own a LWB 2a diesel. Mostly mid twenties but on one trip from Coober Pedy to Port Augusta did an incredible 36. Probably flat, steady, and kept the speed down. JD

With a Series III 2.25 diesel with an overdrive fitted I can get 27mpg on a run. Obviously less pottering about town etc. Cheers
