Replacing Heater Core

The heater in my 1990 Disco dumped its contents on my feet a couple of weeks ago so I am going to replace the core.

First time I have tackled this job and by the book the whole dash needs to come out.

Question is has anybody got a cunning way of short-cutting what makes this a pig of a job by all accounts?

Any other advice gratefully received (as long as it isn't don't do it - I'm fed up with freezing my ass off and the better half is not happy either!)

Thanks

Hi you won't be able to do it without removing the dash. But it isn't too big a job. If you want to see what is under there this is how mine looked.

in a 200-type it takes about 4 hours start-to-finish. Take it steadily, read the book about where the fasteneings are and be careful not to break plasticky bits. You have to get the centre console off first...

Well 4 hours doesn't seem too bad - I assume that is 4 hours to get it out and another 4 to put it back?

I've made a list from the Haynes manual and will take note and photos of how everything comes apart so as to be able to put it back again!

Of course these things always happen in winter and I have to do it outside so hoping for a mild spell soon...

Got a brand new replacement on EBay for £8.99 +P&P so pretty chuffed at that!
