Slightly OT: Toyota Hilux bench seats

A mate of mine has a 1992 Toyota Hilux 4x4 pickup, and wants to remove his 2 front seats and put in a bench seat which apparently were in the older models so he can accomodate him and his 2 kids.

Does anyone have any experience with Hilux's and is it possible to do? There's obviously things like seatbelts to consider, as the middle seat would require a proper 3-point seatbelt to comply with the law.....

Has anyone done this in a Landy?

Landies have 3 front seats anyway.

Hiluxes were available with either seating configuration from the factory. They all have the appropriate mounting holes in the floor pan for 3 sets of front seat belts. The front bench seat out of a 2WD Hilux should bolt straight in (so long as it is not a column gearchange 2WD seat which doesn't have a 'notch' in the front edge to accommodate the gear lever). Model codes that have suitable seats should be LN85/RN85/LN106/RN106/KZN106 (ie 2WD and 4WD from late-89 to late-97). I think (but don't promise) that the bench seats from the earlier xx6x model code vehicles will bolt straight in too.
