Stereo in R R (1989)

Has anyone put a decent stereo and speaker set up into a classic RR and if so what was used, especially for the bass.

Thanks

Use Vogue SE door pockets which incorporate 5" speaker positions. Install some very good components in the doors, replacing the 4" standard speakers with the tweeters from the components (on suitable mounting plates or obtain Vogue SE speaker plate and fit your own tweeters - the standard SE ones are crap).

In the rear, fit 4" components in place of the standard units in the roof lining. Power the lot from a good quality 4 channel amp (mount it under the passengers front seat) and a decent CD head unit (Kenwood/Alpine/Sony etc) and you will get good sound. If you want more bass you will have to add a bass enclosure in the rear of the car or fit decent free-air subs to the rear shelf (after having braced it with ply or MDF) powered from a sub amp fed through a suitable crossover network.

Hello Hugh

I went for a 4x50W sony head unit with a cd changer in the boot. I replaced all the speakers with infinity components and put some 6x9 infinity in the parcel shelf. The base was good but not breath taking. For mega base, stick a enclosed sub in the boot. I couldnt cos I had a LPG tank and the magnets interferred.
