The Unofficial August Unofficial thread.

Right, there have been rumblings of the next unofficial location in several threads 'bout time we pulled it all together me thinks. Not of course forgetting the site Martyn has kindly set up for all things unnofficial - see sig below.

I think the dates have been established as August bank holiday weekend which rules us out (dammed work getting in the way of my social life again!)but that doesn't mean it shouldn't go on regardless.

Righty O, wheres it going to be then peeps? Keep it here in the Unofficial unofficial thread.

If it's in striking distance of a sensible trip from here we will turn up on the Monday if peeps are up to owt then.

:-)

We'll be there anyway, would prefer a decent campsite with laning nearby, or a good pay & play site.

We prefer laning to be honest, but we'll be there for the larf innit!

On that weekend I have a camping and off-roading weekend in either Exmoor or Devon pencilled in, so if you lot end up in that area, wave as you go past ;-)

No reason I can think of why we shouldn't have a mid-summer bash too - could even be mid-week (with sufficient notice) which has the benefit of less crowded roads/camp-sites/lanes.

Yeah, were up for that.

We once camped at a site in Buxton in Derby - Lovely place. Tom came over to get some doors of me :)

Im more than happy to do lanes round derbyshire again - Paulxxx planned a wicked route out last time.

OK, my thoughts:

on pervious (ToBAGO!)[1] occasions, we've found a pay and play, and gone there on one day, then done other stuff like a brewery tour or go to the beach or something on the other day - if we include Monday morning as well and there are credible lanes, no reason there shouldn't be half-a-day's laning as well.

Good campsite (i.e. one that doesn't complain about muddy landies and barbies and so on (or someone's farm, as per the shakespeare one) are more or less essential.

Personally, oop north is a bit far away, Something in the west midlands area would be good and is an area we've not "done" yet. There's plenty of non-off-road stuff to do in the area, including Blists Hill, a bit further south there's Bulmers Cider, and many other things.

Anyone know for a good pay and play (not just a mudhole, something for the tidy motors as well)? I've got an idea about camping (but I need to consult first) which if it comes off will near Tenbury Wells. However, I reckon there are plenty of campsites.

I can ask Graham and Emma - who now own the farm, if they'd be up for SU2? (shakespeare Unofficial #2)

that's an option. Anyone know anything about laning in the area? we know there's a pay and play within reach...

and of course they have welding gear for lighting the barbie :-)

This is sounding better and better :)

A weekend away from "enthusiasts", if you know what I mean.

If you like I could look at Memory Map and plot a few routes based upon what MM says and what the roads/lanes look like? That was all I did for Derbyshire with Mark and Nige and they seemed to like it ... aided by a couple of lanes that Andy already knew.

Mind, I need to know a bit more detail of where 'the area' is ... ;)

Heheheh, take videos ... ;)

So long as the said lanes are legal to drive. "The area" is roughly south-east of Birmingham. We went and looked around Hook Norton Brewery, which wasn't a long drive to reach...

ISTR someone took pictures, and Dawn forbade Simon to have owt to do with it.

More specifically, plan around Stratford-upon-Avon, Harrods Farm is about 8 miles to the East IIRC. Just spoke to Emma, she and Graham had also been mulling over a meet-n-munch, she's going to chat over options with him tonight.

Ah, that'll be these, then:

Austin doesn't do 'barbies', far too girlie. T'was more a mini smelting plant adorning weldmesh. I'm having a Pavlovian response just thinking about it. More what was 'on' it, actually...
