Transmission Oil Cooler Woes

I have an S plate, 1998 Discovery 1 Tdi Auto.

Following a nice easy removal of my a frame and grill, in order to replace the air-con reciever/drier pipe, it was obvious that an oil cooler pipe was massively corroded (the one that connects from the laft hand side of the cooler - looking at it from the front - to the bottom of the transmission housing). As I had to move the oil cooler out of the way whilst I was doing the job, I dis-connected the clamp securing the steel pipes, and dropped the cooler out of the way, supporting it so as not to strain the flexible hoses.

When I'd done the job and re-connected everything, I re-started the car to move it, and - almost inevitably, there was a leak from just below the union. This is not a small drip, but a nice steady pour!

Now I have the unenviable task of replacing either the pipes, and possibly the cooler as well, as the union looks so fused to the pipe, that I doubt that it will be disconnected without damage.

Now, after all this rambling, the question is:

Is there a good after-market kit for replacing the whole kit and caboodle at a reasonable cost? The pipes don't have any local connection to the oil cooler, so replacing a section doesn't look like a goer, so it'll have to be the whole length, back to the transmission housing.

Be grateful of any pointers/recommendations.

Suspect that's the autobox fluid cooler not your engine oil.

Don't risk the cooler - replacing the pipe 'should' be the less expensive option. Although, knowing Land Rover prices, you can never tell.

If you do decide to sacrifice the pipe, avoid hazarding the cooler by weakening the swivel nut on the pipe before attempting to undo it. Gentle work with an angle grinder is the easiest way.

Thanks for the tips. The corrosion is extensive around the union, hence, I'd like to replace both cooler and pipes. Already had a little play, and rotated the swivel at the cooler. The cover nut on the pipe is basically a compound of rusty flakes!
