Are you after a complete roof, or just the side panels?

I didn't realise the side panels were separate........ummm - the drivers door windows, the o/s side window in the back, the "sidelight" next to the tailgate and the tailgate window have all been smashed (vandalism actually) and I thought it would be cheaper to get another top rather than go through the insurance (I've got a £100 excess....)

Yeah. the side panels unbolt from the roof panel, and the side panels also encompass the little windows next to the tailgate. whole rooves (top and sides) tend to go for less than £50.

You can buy door top glass from your favourite landy dealer - £20 from paddocks, or you can get a complete new glazed door top for about £40.

My mate might have a spare roof he wants rid of, will check. I also think Lee_d might have some surplus side panels. I'm sure he'll be along if he has..

I have some spare door top glass sitting in the back garden, If youre going near Stoke on trent, I reckon its probably worth either a few quid, or a couple of cans of something alcoholic! :)

thanks for the info - I'm actually just the other side of Leek. However the door top was well f**ked before this happened so I'm looking to replace the whole thing on that one. I'd already seen those on paddock, but hadn't looked at the side panels. the metal of the upper tailgate is a bit bent round the window so that might need a replacement as a whole as well.

I've just realised that ive got a spare one piece rear door (a safari one), if you want to change from your 2 piece drop down/lift up one. £20 if you want it.

thanks - I rather like the two-piece door, especially as I'm hoping at some stage to go back to a canvas tilt...:-)

There are diagrams of how the door-top is glazed in the Haynes Restoration book. Make sure you get the nuts for the large fixed bolts that hold the top to the lower door -- the chances are that the old nuts will be siezed. I was lucky, we had plenty of nuts that size for holding on ploughshares.

In theory, it's not difficult to fit a new window glass to a side-panel, but it looks the sort of job that, with n mechanics, needs 2n+1 hands.

Theres a rear top door glass on ebay, for £9 at the moment (£2 + postage..)

I took the glass out of my hardtop when i tinted it. It was really easy to get out, but a bit of a pain to get back in.

Its not that its hard because theres only one of you - That rubber window strip is just a bit of a pain to get back in, especially when the glass is a nice tight fit to the hole.

Its certainly doable, but you might end up swearing at it a lot (unless your really good at putting in window sealing rubbers..)

miracle of miracles! The tailgate window must have just popped out and it didn't break! That's one less window to worry about.....
