Will 28 second domestic heating heating oil - kerosine work in my TD300?

Hi I have some 28 second domestic heating heating oil - kerosine to use up from an old tank - what would happen if I put this in my 96 Disco either neat or mixed with diesel or SVO?

Has anyone tried this please?

Be aware that kerosene has markers in it just like red diesel, both visible (yellow) and invisible. Should you ever be checked by HMR&C you run the risk of having you vechicle impounded on the spot and other penalties.

The markers came in fairly recently, few years ago, but I can't say I've noticed any colour change in our sight tube but then it's pretty yellowed due to age anyway...

Probably best to see if any neighbours want it for their heating systems, at 40p/l or more a few tens of litres is worth a pint or two down the pub. Where are you again?

The chemical markers in it will be found if tested by C&E (IIRC even down to as low a 1000:1 dilution), and you'll receive a free holiday at the taxpayers' expense.

Dyes apart, the question remains will it work OK? I'm thinking about using it in the boat when red diesel is no longer allowed.

Kerosine does not have the lubricating qualities of diesel and wear rates of injection equipment will be increased.

If you drive on-road and get caught, you'll get arrested, fined and possibly lose the vehicle.

aside from that, yes it'll run but it might cause wear in the diesel pump if you run on it for extended periods.
