Windscreen shipped internationally?

As the title may be hinting, I'm looking for a windscreen for my 1988 Def/90. Beamends doesn't ship glass (neither does Craddock), which makes sense, although I could actually risk ordering three items, hope that one arrives intact and still save money compared to what I've been quoted at my local dealer.

I contacted LRdirect to see if they do ship glass but they haven't replied and I also had a look at Paddock's and Famous Four with no success. I don't really know where else to look so I'm asking in case anyone has an idea. I'd rather avoid breakers and eBay, I want a new item. I'm in Greece if that makes any difference.

By the way, looking at prices for similar spares, are Britpart and Allmakes that cheap/bad or are Land Rover genuine parts that overpriced?

Thanks, Geo

Bit modern for me, but isn't it a flat screen?

If so, any firm selling screens for civil engineering plant would just cut a piece of laminated glass to size and fit it, surely? My local glass supplier will cut laminated glass to pattern, but there's something to be said for getting the same firm to supply, cut, and fit. No argument over whose fault, then, when they break it.

I was surprised, incidentally, how reasonable it is to have a piece of glass cut, shaped, edge-smoothed, and toughened for side windows. I've just been quoted less than 20 quid for one.

Could try Autoglass - if they won't ship they might take you one step up the chain to a windscreen manufacturer.

Indeed it is. Modern eh? :-)

....looks like it's the simple things that I fail to think of. Think I'll go for that, there should be some autoglass specialist (or whatever they're called) around, as suggested by hugh, or at least something comparable.

Many thanks for the replies, Geo

Have you talked to Pantelis, he's in Greekland too, I'm sure he could help with local knowledge. I'm surprised he hasn't popped up already.

You could go through a UK freight forwarder. Get the glass delivered to them and get them to over-crate it for export and expedite it. Or maybe a friend in the UK could act as an intermediary.

I'm not sure he can recognise by the nick that I'm Greek, I rarely de-lurk and the solution to the problem proved to be generic enough that he doesn't need to bother anyway. Always good to see him around, mind.

yes

seriously though... the elcheapos vary between obviously not-so-good as genuine and indistinguishable. and yes, most LR parts are overpriced, although you get the odd one that isn't, like the headlamp washer jet for a

300TDi disco, which, when I wanted one a few years back, was about £4.35.
