X reg discovery V8 with LPG

Going to have another look tomorrow, with a view to trading my 1998 1.8 freelander for the above mentioned vehicle. My question is are there any known defects that I should be looking out for, it has 1 owner and 38000 miles lots of bits n bobs like metalic paint 7 seats cruise, ABS , hydraulic raise and lower of rear suspension ( for towing?) no leather.

I have been more than pleased with my freelander and 90 before that but this is a big step for me

Many thanks in advance

Al C.

service history, evidence of regular oil changes. the former, for preference, seeing as it's 1-owner; lack of FSH is not a complete turn-off,

check that it runs on both fuels, and does so smoothly.

check all the toys are working, aircon, SLS, etc. Hmm, it's a disco II at that age, isn't it. If it has ACE, make sure it doesn't roll on hard cornering, if it has HDC, check that it works.

ideally, find out what kind of gas system it is and who installed it, and see if the vendor has a certificate that the installation is up-to-spec, you might need that for the insurance, and if so, that it's included in the sale.

SLS is the self-levelling rear air (not hydraulic) suspension (on all 7 seaters, some 5s). ACE is the Active Cornering Enhancement, a system which hydraulically jacks one side up as you go round a corner to virtually eliminate body roll. IIRC it was standard in XS spec plus, optional in GS. You can tell if the car has ACE because you'll see a hydraulic ram type thing connected to the anti-roll bar in the front right wheel arch. Also when you mash it round a corner it'll stay level.

The ACE pump makes a slight whining noise which changes in pitch with the engine. This should be audible but not loud.

Can I tempt you to consider a TD5 instead of a V8?
