07 Navigation changes

Has anyone figured how to over-ride what makes it impossible to change navigation items while the 07 GS 350 is moving? I travel with my wife and I would like her to be able to do things with the navigation screen controls without my having to stop the car!

If there is no way for me to over ride it, can the Lexus service do it or are they forbidden to do so?

offers a wire harness to override the warning on some vehicles but the 07 GS 350 is not listed. You can re-visit the site occasionally to see if they offer a kit for your vehicle.

There used to be a simpler way by just touching the navigation touchscreen in certain ways to access the "system menu" that then gives you the option to override it. Anyone know how that works?

I found this in the archives:

"For my GS300 2004 (Nav with DVD), , the override was turned on very easily ..... First press Menu The "DVD button"" must be press (no "System button") Press on the screen: Up Left, Down left, Up left, Down left, then Down right And then, the "Override button" must be pressed for 5 sec"

but it does not seem to work on my 07 GS 350. They much have changed the code.

That override no longer seems to work, and I have not seen one for '07 models yet.

Yes. Buy a Honda product with its vastly superior, voice operated, nav system.

Toyota is peddling "safe" junk--that is, if it can possibly come back to bit them on their legal asses, they won't sell it.

Well if toyota and Lexus are selling such legaly safe products, why does the Lexus product leave a two inch wide river of rainwater on the drivers side of the windshield that I can't see through? Makes a blind spot that realy is not safe.

And of course there is the cheap crap seat belt that tangles itself up and falls out of the car into the door when I get out so that it can get all smashed up ready to break if I ever need it.

I first thought the navigation aid problems were for safety but now I think they are just incompetence. Oh well ...

The dealership told me that their service department could "customize" the car for me by changing some of the defaults. I wonder if they are permitted to do this change or if they would divulge the secret code ......

Doesn't anyone know a Lexus mechanic?

On the other hand, it seems doing it by software override apparently only lasts till you turn off the engine. So maybe a mechanical device under the seat would be better because it is permanent.

The Lexus Personalized Settings covers things like key fob function, initerior lights, etc.

That is why the mechanical device looks attractive to me.
