This is for the front assembly. . . If it is like the 94 ES 300, there are three 10mm screws that hold it in. One on the outside fender just under where the hood closes, another (looking from the front to back) on the in board side of the assembly, and another right near that one. You would access one from the front and another from the top. Once those are out, grab hold and yank out. There is a guide hole that a register pin for the assembly fits into and sometimes it gets stuck, hence the yank. Need to get three screws out first though. Good luck.

On my '98 (I assume 97's the same), :

Open the hood. By the light assembly, you'll find a screw under a black flap. Remove that screw. Then, push/force the whole signal/marker assembly towards the front of the car. This may take some coaxing - if you use a flat-blade screwdriver, to pry the assembly forward, tape the blade to avoid scratching the paint where you're prying.

It's a really simple procedure, but some require more coaxing than others.
