2007 Lexus ES 350 Voice Command System

I have been having problems with the voice command feature on my ES 350. For example, if I say "75 degrees" to change the temperature, it will give me the location of Japanese restaurants (honest!) or city center points of interest. It also does not recognize a number of other commands. On other rare occasions, it will execute the command correctly. I have a clear speaking voice so I'm sure it isn't my way of talking.

When I took the car back to the dealer, I was told that other ES 350 owners have experienced the same situation because of a software problem that will have to be corrected. I later called Lexus headquarters to inquire when the "fix" will be available and they had not heard of this problem. They are now contacting the dealer to find out what is going on.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with the ES 350 or any other Lexus model? If so, can you tell me how the problem has been resolved. Any information will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

i did, now and then get a similar issue in my 2005 GS 300. no software problem is evident though. because i found if the fan was running at high speed or a winsow was slightly open, it would order me a chicken curry. FYI.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Lexus ES quality. It starts with the transmission lag of the es300 series. Does yours have it too?

I had the same problem with the voice command. Every time I said "go home" I got the location of golf clubs. I tried saying GO HOME, GO home, go HOME etc. all with the same result. Then I found the answer. I was trying to speak clearly and precisely, instead of normally. Now, when I say "gohome" as one word it understands and shows directions as asked for. Try it, it may work for you.

I always just say "home", and it works fine. That's about the only voice command I ever actually use, since I can never remember what all the other words are that the thing supposedly understands, and don't want the hassle of getting misunderstood; I'd rather use the touch-screen commands like a good computer geek.
