Check Engine light

At this stage, I wouldn't pay anything to find out what the "check engine light" means, since some places offer a free check. I had the light come on and I went to a chain auto supply store that offers a free check. It turned out to be a minor matter that they could correct. The dealers, I understand, charge quite a bit just for the check that takes less than 5 minutes if you have the correct gizmo.

The first thing to do is to disconnect the negative battery terminal for about one to five minutes, then reconnect it. That should turn off the "check engine" light. Assuming that works, then drive the car normally and see if the light comes back on.

Did your radio and seat settings come back after the battery was disconnected?
