ES-300 Dash Light

Ok folks, I have a 97 ES300 and the rear light indicator is illuminated on the dash panel, I check ALL the lights and there is NOT a light bulb out in any direction. Question is there a sensor or shift indicator or what the heck is my possible problem.

Assuming every bulb in nevery light fixture (some fixtures may have more than 1 bulb), including the center high mounted stop lamp, tail lights, backup lights, license plate lights, turn signals, and brake lights are working, then check for a loose ground for the rear lights. Hint: people often miss the license plate lights and center high mounted stop lamp.

As in ALL the Lexus products, bulbs that are still working CAN set a LOI (Light Out Indicator) if the bulbs differ slightly in wattage. The basic repair is to make sure that all of the same bulbs are the same, ie 07443 and not anything other, etc. and the problem is solved. In our shop, we start by removing the aftermarket bulbs one at a time and replace them with factory. You schould be able to do the same, and once the offending bulb is found, your light will stay off.
