I know Midas and Meinke still offer lifetime on pads.......on the web site for Sears Auto, it says "their best brake job offers a 3/36 warranty on parts/labor".
When I used Midas pads a long time ago, I noticed the pads lasted a long time, but the rotors were warping and needed to be turned/replaced much more often.
I went back to Toyota pads and didn't have that problem again.

In a Lexus I would stick to the factory pads. They appear to be a premium material that is mated to material used in the rotors. Also notice the Lexus pads don't produce dust on the rims like aftermarket pads.
notice also that right out of the box, genuine toy/lex pad material is cut differently to reduce squeaking and dusting.
Ben, a question for you. How can Lexus in The NYC area justify $450+ charge for front pads? This is without replacing the rotors?

ok, not sure how they're doing it there, but this is how it breaks down here in upstate ny
pads $80 resurface rotors 2.0hr labor labor rate $70
2.0hr x $70 = $140 pads $80 = total cost $220 plus taxthe labor rate in the city i've heard is sometimes closer to $100 an hour? i think the tax rates are different there too. to tell you the truth, i have no idea, and i'm not going to the city to find out.

We put Midas pads (and rotors) on our '92 LS400 a couple of years ago. Work fine. Not noisy. No more dust than the originals. I think the pads are lifetime, but I don't think the labor is.
I asked what Lotus pads and rotors would cost installed by a Lexus dealer and the price was so high I blocked out the memory in horror. The Midas shop charged less than half, I do remember that.
That's "Lexus pads and rotors", not Lotus.
Do the Lotus pads squeal as much as the Lexus pads? :) My ES 300 brakes squeal so much when they get hot that people 50 feet away can hear my brakes. Even cargo trucks have quieter brakes.
I spoke to 3 different Lexus Service Consultants, all of whom said that this brake squeal is normal. I find that very hard to believe. My 88 Camry has very quiet disc brakes.
If Lexus is listening I really wish they would solitify their pricing on labor/ parts/ procedures (I know labor can vary on where you live).
I had my brakes relaced about 2 years ago at the dealership. They were tons cheaper than a local shop. They did all 4, no turning - cross hash. Cross hashing removes less material and is used when the rotor is not warped. By the way, this cost me 250.
