Location of remote key sensor?

I've tried without success to divine the location of the receiver for my 93 LS400 remote door locks. It seems to be diminishing in range and effectiveness, showing total failure under some conditions.

Where is the thing located, and what would be contributing to this diminished performance?

TIA,

H Nolan

Just a little FYI. I took my Lexus to Madison, Wisconsin a few weeks back. There was this mall, where my remote just did not work unless i was touching the car. I saw another guy in a Lexus having the same problem. He said that there is something about this particular mall, be it some security system, or something, that is screwing up the signal. Once I left the mall, and went back to the hotel, it worked like it should.

Try replacing the battery in the key. I did it myself at the local drug store. Total cost: About $2.

There are lots of places with so much RF floating about that the system gets swamped. IIRC the pickup is in the boot, near the seat back.
