Price Difference Between Kelley and Edmunds Quotes

I'm selling my 1997 ES300 to buy a new ES330 (please spare me the tranny warnings, been there, done that).

The used car prices quoted by Edmunds are about $2,000 higher then Kelley's. The "private party sale" price for my 1997 ES300 is about $12,000 from Edmunds and about $14,000 from Kelley's. From what I've seen around, I think the Kelley's prices are more realistic and the Edmunds prices are inflated.

Does anyone have an explanation for such a wide discrepancy?

You contradict yourself...One sentence states KBB is higher and in the other your state Edmunds is higher. Which is it ? I have found Edmunds to be lower priced and more reflective of true values.

With the current market of large rebates, etc. the used car values are low.

I meant to say that Kelley's was $12,000 and Edmunds was $14,000. Edmunds is $2,000 higher.

Not in this instance.

I guess that's debatable, but not my observation (in this instance).

Does that really impact a 7 year old car?

Yes...If I can walk into a Chevy dealer ans say get $5000 in rebates, for a

2004 model. That is not help anyone who is trying to sell a used model.

I'll spare you the warnings. Just see if they'll let you take a loaner car overnight. You might have a different opinion once you've spent a little time with the new ES series. The newer 5 speed introduced a lot of performance characteristic changes that are different from your 1997 version. Your choice, but just make sure you check it out thoroughly.
