I own a 1990 LS400 with 205K (just good ol' Valvaline 5w30 every 3500-5000 mi - no "engine" related issues so far)... While I agree that the timing belt replacement recommendation is excessive (I did my first @ 120K), with the "interference" type engine in YOUR year, at 160K, that is MORE risk than even I am willing to take!
