A mere fine for RLJ cyclist that put pedestrian in a coma

I do hope the cyclist was well insured, there are life changing injuries that need to be paid for.

Cyclist Reeve Allen, 26, of Nuneaton, was ordered to pay a fine of £850, costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £85 at Hammersmith magistrates? court yesterday after pleading guilty to cycling without due care and attention and causing serious injury.

Mr Da Costa, who lives in Westminster, suffered a bruised brain and a fractured skull and facial bones in the collision outside his work.

As an occasional pedestrian, do I need to consider wearing a helmet with mounted camera?

The helmet is a good plan, the camera no, it weakens the helmet and is very unlikely to be pointing in a useful direction when actually needed, it also makes you look like a loser looking for trouble.

The safer method is to carry a 5" chisel in your back pocket. This may come in useful if/when you block footpath riding cyclist scum. They have a reputation for violence.
