There was a thread recently on the subject of oil filters which
included a link to http://www.autoair.co.uk/Filters.htm which you may
find interesting.
It concludes that the genuine OEM filters are likely better made in
terms of quality and design.

It's just plain not worth buying anything but OE filters (or ones made
by the OE manufacturer). Is your engine worth more than the 2-3 quid
difference?
In fact, as another poster has said, you can often get OE or OE-quality
filters for less than the shite halfords sell.
